School of Education and Human Services
Our mission drives much of what we do. It reads, in part: “Our school exemplifies excellence in education and human services through clinical practice, innovative, interdisciplinary and international curricula, individual and collaborative research.” Service to our professional community—whether in research, outreach, or student education—is the focus of our work.
Over the years, we have listened to members of our community-teachers, parents, students, counselors, human resource professionals and administrators-to design and implement programs that we knew would have a lasting and substantive impact on their lives, and therefore on our own.
Now, as we embark on the Aspire. Advance. Achieve. Campaign for Oakland University, a campaign to transform the face of SEHS and Oakland University, we have selected some of our most successful programs, as well as several new initiatives, that, with additional support, will benefit our communities for generations to come. Through these initiatives, we will create a tide on which all of our communities, businesses, local schools, teachers, and students will rise together.
Fundraising priorities include:
- Autism Center
- Center for Renewal of Schools and Community
- Galileo Institute at Oakland University
- Lowry Center for Early Childhood Education
- SEHS Counseling Center and Adult Career Counseling Center
- Center for Assessment in Literacy and Learning
- Superintendent Leadership Institute
- Teacher in Residence Program
- Center for the Study of Employment and Disability
